Springer International Taps Marc Sanchez for New Food Law Title
Atlanta, GA: Springer International and Attorney and Professor Marc Sanchez announced a new title to Springer’s Food Science Text Series. Doctor Sanchez will write Springer’s first food law text. The Food Science Text series provides “textbooks of the highest quality” for food science programs and industry adoption. Doctor Sanchez will write a comprehensive food law textbook for undergraduate, graduate, and industry training programs. The text will be modeled after a course currently taught by Dr. Sanchez at Northeastern University. Written from an international perspective the text comes at an important time. The passage of Food Safety Modernization Act of 2011 increased the demand for food science professionals. The law, which represents the first change to the food safety system in nearly 80-years, requires facilities to utilize qualified professionals to develop and monitor food safety standards. The textbook, available in early 2015, will fill the demand for an introduction to food law created by FSMA in food science and industry training programs.
· Springer’s first food law text
· The textbook will be available in print and Springer’s new SmartBook format
· First food law textbook following FSMA and new FSMA rules
· First food law text written specifically for non-lawyers
